Breaking Through- Post #5

Quote#1- "What about working for me on weekends? I can pay you $1.25 an hour." Mike Nevel - page 86

This quote showed the difficulty that he went through. I felt getting payed liked that is better than nothing and ot love in this world you have to work for your earnings. So this quote deffinitly showed the difficulty of getting people to work for them. I thought that this quote was a great example of what they had to deal with when they came to another country. Great example.

A personal connection I thought of was that sometimes when I get paid by maybe a grandparent or dad that my grandparents or dad feel the same way and have a hard time convincing me to work for them.

Question: If you had anything in the world to pick for a job your dad wanted you to do for him, what would you pick?

Quote#2- "I knew Papa's check was for sixty five dollars, because he got paid a dollar an hour. Roberto and I reiceved eighty-five cents per hour just like the braceros."

I thought this quote was very interesting to know the cost because he's getting paid a good amount here in America and since he came from mexico than he now is getting treated better in his perspective which is good to have when you come to a new country. I also think that there is challenges that Papa has been through and this will pay off most of them because he is working hard and doign well in his new country.

My personal connection is that when i get money here from my grandpa it's usually a good amount so that i could go spend it on kid stuff like ipod's or cell phones. I usually work very hard and do my best to get my full amount.

Question: Is there any moment where you have got paid because you worked very hard at something, if so explain what it is and why you got paid?

Quote#1: I am a little confused about what you are trying to say but I think that this quote shows how much they struggle to make earnings. Also that it is hard for them to get a job.

Question#1: I don't know what I would pick. Whatever would help him I guess.

Quote#2: I think this quote really shows the differences between the pay of their dad and them. I think this is a good quote good job.

Question#2: I have gotten paid for washing my dad and moms car. I think that is the only thing that I have gotten paid for.

Quote 1: Like Daniel, I'm sorta confused. You didn't really specify why and what you meant. In a way, i agree, it must be hard to find a good job.

Question 1: I don't really understand the question, but I guess I would pick whatever my dad wanted me to. I think I would bend to his wishes and not really argue.

Quote 2: I think it was becuase Papa was really loyal to the owner, Ito. I loke how you said that it really did show that he was getting treated better.

Question 2: I got paid for downloading all my Dad's CDs onto iTunes. It took SO long, but it was all worth it.

Quote#1-
I struggled to understand what you were trying to say but I also how it's hard for Fransisco and Roberto to get a job because they are really busy all the time since they have different jobs so that is a struggle.

Question#1-
Maybe if my Dad would ask me to come help him out while he is doing electricity jobs because he is an electrician i would.

Quote#2-
I agree because I think papa's work is paying off and he deserves it because he has worked hard. It's a good thing that the Jimenez family came to America because they don't live in much poverty as they used to.

Question#2-
I don't really charge my parents when they ask me to do a job for them like wash their car or clean the house I take it more like a favor and I know I'm helping them out.
