Field Trip Reflection

The purpose of the exhibit was to see how Jews started a new life by coming over to America to settle. They would come because there lives they had recently were filled with poverty, war, etc. When they came to America they faced a different lifestyles. When they all came off the boat, everyone would split directions each wanted a different life. Usually people came from New york and Boston then just split directions after that. Because of the change in the style of people, i meant there started to be a change with the younger kids growing up and making life around their a little different.

Changing the life in a certain can change the style in the country drastically. So when the immigrants came to America, problems in their own country increased. While the Jews were being killed in Europe, Jews in America were pretty mad and wanted to do something. But while American Jews wanted to help, Jews from Europe fled to America.

There were many interesting things that occur ed to me in the exhibit. Some very interesting things that i myself was very surprised about was something about baseball. I love baseball and hearing this was a shock because i never knew about it. A ball player who almost broke Babe Ruth's home run record and four other records was a Jewish man named Hank Greenberg. Some other interesting facts were that Jews fought for our new nation during the American revolution.

Some other interesting facts i learned were that the national Jewish welfare board has met the religious and social needs of Jews serving in the united states military since 1917.

CHILDREN OF IMMIGRANTS

The photo i chose was called "Children playing games from the U.S.A". This was a photo with 4 kids playing with a ball. They were playing a certain game with 4 people involved and a hoop. Normally called basketball in the U.S but on the picture it didn't look like basketball to me because basketball looks different to me when i see that picture.

I also noticed in this picture that 2 of the boys were standing right next to each other. One was about to grab the ball and the other was just standing around. But in this picture i mostly thought about sports. I love sports so it gave me the thought of how fun other countries like sports as well.

My quote that I chose is this: "The greatest thing I hoped for in my life is to become a successful person and to have a family and friends to support me, not to be looked at by the color of my skin but also who I am inside." -Samira Durakovic, Yugoslavia. I chose this quote because it makes me think a lot about things you need to be focusing on in life. You don't want to go around the country making a bad reputation of yourself. The quote is a great quote to look-up to later in life. Especially people who feel they are not getting far in life with me very encouraged. People who aren't getting as far in life will be able to because they will be pushed to do their best and for that people will love them. And sooner or later those people will start having a good life because of you. So I'm just saying that a lot of people can be influenced by this quote and i appreciate the author for writing a well thought out quote. It also states that you can't be judged by the color of your skin and I think that is huge for the world that we live in. This country is getting a little weird and we need to start living the right way. There's just too many bad things happening all at once and people can't just stand there and say "what are we going to do?" They have to do what is good in the world and help the world out by acting on the good not the bad.
