Bambove Grove Final Post

1. I think it was a quiet ending and it was just a time where Yoko and KO found their family and reunited as a family. But i don't know why they don't show the dad in the end. They should of showed how the dad comes back instead of showing it on one sentence at the end. Some issues occurred when they ended the book with hideyo finding his family. But i think they could of put the dad in their to make it satisfying so that we (as the readers) could see the dad come back and how the family really misses it.
I think the ending showed a lot of courage and braveness because of how Yoko and KO stood it until the end. I think they showed braveness because of how they went thought he war and how they survived a moment in our world's past. I think that hideyo was trustful in his family because he believes they will survive on their own without him and i think that is a big thing for a boy to leave his sisters and mom with a war going on. i think have trusted his family a lot and believed they would survive this war. I think this kawashima family has a lot of braveness and courageous.

2. I think that they wanted to try the Japanese culture because they were born in japan. I also think that it helped their family become nice to each other and well manured in front of all of their friends. It is something that is their culture and at least everyone i know wants to know more about their culture and i think that they wanted to know a little more about who their relatives are by studying the manors of the Japanese. I would observe my specific culture like for example the reason my culture became a culture and how they believed in a certain thing. I would be drawn to look into my culture because i think it would be very interesting.

3. I admire hideyo the most for being so brave to his family and trustful. I like hideyo the most because he has courage to go through this war with braveness because he can trust his family and can feel his love for his family. This brother of the kawashima family can have the guts to go for whatever his family tells him.

I admire his strength through the war because he has helped his family when they are in need. He has been there for them and someone who encourages them. He gives lots of hope to his family even though they fight over little things. He is the boy in the kawshima family and the person that i think is the most brave when it comes to his family.

4. I learned that the war was brutal and i learned about a families perspective and how they survived through the war of world war 2. I learned about the things of hope, courage, and braveness. I learned about the time frames of the war and how the past was very hard and terrifying for people. I learned about the history of the Japanese and how the Korean communist army was taking advantage of the fact that the Japanese was defenseless when the Americans hit the Japanese hard with a couple atomic bombs.

I also learned on how the war effected families like the kawashima family and i realize now what the Japanese families had to go through. I think that the they war was hard for everyone and that a lot of people had to go through horrible times. I think most families lost hope but i think the kawashima family had a lot of full grown hope that lays still within them.

5. I learned that human nature can be terrifying sometimes but i think people still believe in hope and survival when theses things happen. There a bunch of problems when the kawashima family helps out people that are trying to survive in the war but they still tell each other they love each other and that they will stick together as the kawashima family always.

I think that this long journey has been full of wonders and also terrible things but in the end everything came to the way it was supposed to be.

1.Mr Naido helps yoko during there friendship together. Mr naido gives her hope because she is too small to do work so mr naido keeps her happy. They both though have trouble because mr naido stutters and yoko is to young to work. I think that mr naido is helping her is so many ways because of the war and what she has been through.

2. Ko's additude is very grateful and now i think she feels some hope. I think because the war has made such pain to her that she is finally happy that she has a job and is living with some of her family. I think now she is very happy and grateful because of what she is going through and what she went through.

3.Why do you think yoko is mad that she cant work and how do you think yoko could go through it.

My answer: I think because she wants to help her family and be apart of it so i think she wants to work so she can get money for her family. I also think she can go through that bye just helping around the house and telling herself that she only needs to help them and she doesnt need to push herself to get money. that is why yoko is there is to get money for them. She just needs to relax and not worry about it.

1.a. they want to leave korea because of how the korean communist army is killing all the japanesse refugees. They cant take the killing and dont want to be killed. That is why they are hiding and trying to get out of korea.
b. i wouldnt leave hideyo behind because hideyo has been there for all of them and helped them all so he wouldnt want to be left. i am though more on the side of that they should left him because the communist army was coming and hideyo neede to get to seoul. i agree though on that they should be with him for a while but.... they needed to hurry so noone catches them while there were saying goodbye to eachother. i agree with both but more on leaving him behind.

2.Why do you think hideyo was so protective of not playing dead because he would thought they would steal his items? Do you think hideyo should of played dead anyway or run and hide like he did? And what path would you take?

My Answer:
i think it is because he wanted his special belongings and i think it was all he had from his family. i also think thatr if he played dead the communist army would see him and then just check if he is dead and kill him for real.i would of taken the path of climbing the tree as well because i rather have control over what i am doing then because if i moved while he was right next to me then he would take me down because he was on top and forcing down. So i would do what hideyo did but i want to see what you would of done and why.

1. i think hideo is nice and kind to his family but when it gets to his family and life choices hes is strong and supports his family because he is thinking of them a lot. But when he wanted to join the communist army he had to fight to get in there and he had to pass a couple a tests.

2.i would bring a picture of my family, baseball, biscuit roles, and a book called ''The lord of the rings'' part 3. i would bring that stuff for one everyone needs a picture of there family. i would also bring a baseball for the love of the game and maybe for defence. i would bring my favorite snack some honey and butter buiscuit roles. then i would bring a book. i would bring that book because i have always liked that series and fightng but i also liked the story in general and it always gives me hope.

3.i find upsetting that all those people are dieing and getting shot at by the communist army. i think it is horrible that this is happening. i also realize that people took this war serious and didnt want anyone to keep running the war. they wanted the war over. so i hated it when the koreans and the japaneese fought and killed everyone around them that wasnt there culture.

1.She is someone who is caring but cares most about her family and that is what i think makes her strong. She always thinks family first and is trying to protect her family from the war. She though sometimes acts like a kid and sometimes in the text she plays around or fools around like a 7 year old kid even though shes older.

2. I think that ko and yoko get on each other because their sisters. They arent that mean to each other but when someone says '' i am going to do it'' yoko tells her sister that she is bossy because their sisters and if it was a friend or another person yoko would probably say ok you can do it. It is just brothers and sisters get on each other and that is why they have differences.

3.I think that the family is very nice to everyone and everyone that is on the train that they were helping. Each patient was given the same respect as their family. As a character each individually they i think have different perspectives in what is helping to them and since their nice and also active people they are very gentle but know how to do things . I think they each have their own personalities and interest. They did a good job on the train but in the end when it was time to leave they had to leave the cart of the train behind and go to the city.

1. My favorite part in the story so far is that the boy named charlie is trying tio find his parents and can talk to animals which help him on his journey. He is talking to circus animals and talking to them on where they went next. He is very determined and sad that some kidnapped his parents. He right now is looking in and out of everywhere but has clues from animals to back him up. He has occasionally deliveries and advise from the helpful animals.

1.My favorite part of the first pages i read was how this guy named charlie ashanti wanted to find his parents. His parents were kidnapped while he was on his way home and when he got there his parents were gone. I liked this part because of how determined he was into this and how he would figure out ways to find where they went.

2.I think his ability to talk to cats like lion or tigers that are from the cat family. I think he will find his parents because of how determined he is and how he does it through animals as well. the first part talks about how he can talk to animals and i think he knows what he has to do..

Wave Final Post

1. I think it means to never let someone like a group to take over the fact that you like For Ex. bush instead of kerry, because your free and this is a free country and the U.S, made this country free so you can be free. So it means to never let someone take over you and make you like For Ex. kerry instead of bush. Do what you want to do dont let a group take over the fact that you are free. It also could mean that you shouldnt ever take ''individual rights'' from you because it catches you in the long run and they just made you do what you knew everyone else was doing but you didnt really agree on it.
I also think that you dont need to listen to other people just because their cool and if you have a different opinion then them that you will thinkl they will laugh at you. No, make sure you give your opinion no matter how stupid you think it is. In my own life this could apply because some people might disagree and they will laugh at your opinion but i think your opinion is yours only and you just have to keep it because it is your way in things, not just their way.

2. I think Robert was a character that had his own opinion in the begining but towards the middle lost it because of everyone and how everyone took it away. I think everyone that was involved in the wave would of laughed at robert if he wasn't in he wave and i think he followed others opinions through the book. At the end he finally realized how horrible the wave was and how far it was going and knew then he should of stayed with his own opinion or stay with the wave and all the wave members that encouraged him to come to join the wave.
I think he will start being strong again on what he thinks in life and stop listening to groups and follow his way. But the wave did make him more obidient and couragous and a litlle bit more confidence in himself. I think how since the wave is over he will finally stick to his direction and make sure the effects of others dont lure him in to what he doesnt want.

3. I see that Ben took responsibility of fascism because of how powerful he took his schools and other schools to participate in this. Historical movements are like a strength that he took and force that led him further in power. Hitler was a example because of the kind of power he put everyone in and how horrible he treated and hrut everyone. He was very powerful, forcibility, aggresiveness, and regimenting all industry like taking over the war in his power.

4. To remeber to stick with your opinion and who you are and not to follow others even though they are walking closer to Ben's wave experiment. I would give advise to just stay who you want to follow and dont let others take you down the wrong path.

Family History Project
Class: Humanities Date:October 18, 2007

The purpose: of this project was to learn about a Historical Narrative, a memoir, and on how to interview a person in your family. To learn to organize and learn about history using tools. We learned how to research and how to not talk in plagiarism. We learned to do it in our own words. In order to learn about a narrative we had to take notes that were about the person we chose and the notes i did were on my grandpa who fought at the Solomon islands. We wrote four pages of notes and write them as if it was a article back then. We also had to do a interview that had our grandpas involved in. In order to do the interview we had to meet with who we were doing it on. For example since my grandpa was dead i had to interview my mom who had a lot of things on my grandpa. We had to write a paper on our person and what they did that impressed you and viewers.
I learned: about a lot of things in this project like how to do a narrative, a memoir, and how to write a interview. I explored the concept of how my grandfather made it out of the war alive. I went to my mom and some letters he wrote and found out that he was deaf and that he was taking out of the war. But he said he wouldn't of survived without his friend. But his friend took him this far in the war and actually saved him. I explored that and found out about my grandfather and his strengths. In this project, i learned how to write better and also gather information and put it into a narrative or a interview write up. I learned how to be a better typer because of how much typing was involved. I learned how to be a overall worker because this project taught me to step it up and be a strong hard working student. I learned a lot from this project and hope to learn more from the next projects.
Reflection: I enjoyed this project because it gave fun in working hard. It gave interest because it is fun to learn about your past relatives and what they did. It is pretty cool to look back on your grandpa and see what he did in the war and how he went through the war deaf. I feel like i could have done better on this project because i didn't really come into the project working hard and i thought i could of finished this project earlier if i didn't goof off a little bit into the project. Next time, i would probably work hard right off the bat so i can finish earlier and give myself a break.
Artifacts: I would have the map on where my grandfather went because it shows the places he went when he was fighting in the war. It also shows where my grandfather went from all the Solomon islands. I would also chose the movies that were unrated because it shows a lot of information and important things about the war. I would also chose the pictures because they show how my grandpa looked. It also shows the metals and ranks he was in. which shows a lot of how good he was in the war.

I thought that quote was saying that ben was their leader. But Ben said this and I thought he was saying it as hitler. He knew that he was acting like hitler and he had to tell them that it is just a project.
3. What do you think would of happened if the story went on and david and laurie talked about the wave and what do you think some subjects they talked about were?

1. I think Ben is getting overwhelmed and feeling like he is being rejected in this game. But i think he still pushing people to do it because some people want to do it.

2.I chose the quote '' it will be a strong argument for the success of the wave.''
i think by someone saying that in the book means that he is going to far and his doings are being argued because of how far and hard he is pushing this.

3.How do you think Ben ross is going to take all this arguing in his experiment, will he make them work harder or realize, what do you think?

1. I see that they're many comments from students like this one from the book. '' Hey did you hear that you are welcome to The Wave pep rally. '' what'' '' ya they are having a Wave pep rally instead the football teams pep rally. '' What.''
so you can see from the quote that Mr. ross is taking this wave too far. All the students are wondering how much longer this is going to last.
2. The principle went into the classroom of Mr. ross and said that he is taking this game a little too far. There is also a part where he gives more sayings. After his motto '' discipline through strength'' he gave another one that is discipline through action. He is going to far on this and is liking it so much that other people wont like it any more because of how hard he is pushing.
3. What do you think the kids at the school are going to do after they realize they dont like Mr. ross's game?

Wave 2

1.The saying ''strength through discipline'' was a commanding thing that Mr. Ross said to the students for the experiment. The students were fiquaring out that Mr. Ross was pushing the idea of World War II. The students had to stand next to their desks and act like soldiers. Mr. Ross's history class was getting into deep thought about courage, disapline and strength.

2. My favorite quote in the book was "Strength through discipline! Strength through community.'' Was my favorite because it tells you how you need to be strong in all you do as a community and through your own actions. It also stands out to me because Mr. Ross was a teacher that is trying to teach his students respect but seems a little caught in his eexperiment with his class a little too much.

3.Why do you think Mr. Ross's experment is going to far and how do you think his students feel about the experiment?

The Wave

1. I think this book was occured in high school class in Palo Alto California, 1969.



2.I think this school was a old back than school because they had typewriters that they type for the school paper and these days we use microsoft and other typing networks and we print them into another machine. They use typewriters that just come out from the machine. They also use films and projectors instead of high technology screens or videos. The high school also had a lot of old class stuff but they were talking about world war 2 which was a big deal back then because the dates are close to eachother. The people back then had a lot of dads that went into the war which made the people in school talk about it more. The movies of the war was a terrible thing. That is why they talked about it and how we talk about it now.



3. I think that there is more smoking at a young age and that there are more things that we dont do today because back then it was hard for the kids because their dads were away but since there dads werent there they didnt have the total disaplin that our dads give us now. They had more freedom of slaking in school and not paying attention in class. But i thought as soon as Ben ross showed them the movie and how horrible that those people int he war were doing they actually thought about it a little. They didnt completely understand it but they got a idea of what the U.S was going through at the time period. And i think that ben with find a way to let them know how to understand.

Betty Ann

Question 1.
The saddest part to me was when they made fun of her and when her mom said that the girl that came over betty ann's house was the only girl that came over ever at betty's house. I felt bad for betty because she really didnt do anything wrong she just got made fun of because people thought she was weird. So i feel bad for her beacse she did nothing to anyone and she all ready is being made fun of because she is weird or a different color.

Question 2.
Well i would of spoke up when he narrator was saying that everyone was laughing at her and betty because they were partners. I would of saided that it doesnt madder if she is weird she is a human being like us and that she should be treated just like you and me. The narractor just let it go and let them make fun of betty when they knew it was wrong. I think that i would of spoke up because that is just the way i am. I would not be shy but it someone that wouldnt be shy i dont think they would stand up for her even though they know it is right to stand up for her. Like the narrator knew it was right to stand up but she didnt because she didnt want to end relationships or mad fun of to.

Question 3.
That sticks and stones will break my bones but words can hurt you because they are so powerful. Words it all you say in life to conmunicate and when you say hurtful things it can put someone down and think that they are dumb instead of thinking that they can do stuff and there not idiots. So the message is to be careful of what you say to other people because it can really take someones life apart.

1.''Mr. Bueller understood that Victor didnt know French and walked away''
This was my favorite part because it was funny hearing victor because he didnt know french and when i talked to people who know french i feel like victor trying to say a fake french word.
I think Mr. Bueller walked away because his french class was already experienced and he didnt want to take his time and teach him french. I also liked this part because i like french a lot and someday i want to learn it.

2.This story gave me some action and movement because it woke me up as in being really good that it was interesting to hear because the part where Victor walks into the french class like he knows french and trying to empress a girl, basicly gets him nowhere so it got interesting hereing this and thats why i kept on listening to the story instead of falling a sleep.

1.The part that stood out to me was the part when the blue convirtible swung out behind without the truck with out warning and the car struck near the front fender knocking is car to the shoulder on the left side of the turpike. It stood out to me because ''how would anybody know he was hypnosis''. If someone was in that then they would have a dream of a car accident but if they were in real life it would be moe accurate.



I liked that part because it gave me a idea in my head that this came to life. Because it was so descriptive, who would know that it was hynposis. She gave a specific detail like the car what way she crashed in and how she crashed was really descriptive because of how she said it and what backed her up like explaining in details what color the car was and how it hit the other car.



2.I think people who drive and do the test that fail it should not to be driving for a nother like 20 years. I kinda think that you should be banned for driving for another 20 years then beable to drive again instead being banned forever. I think if you were to drive with someone in the car that you should be as careful as possible even if it is a driving test.



I think the part where it says the people may be angels is true because they said there in all white and that he may of died. It is hard because it might be something that is a angel but basicly a healer of some kind in real life. I am not sure but this is a mystery that we will soon figure out i know it.

My Favortie Book from 6th grade

My favorite book was The city of Ember because it was a great adventure about a world that was hidden and the people of the world had to figure out clues on how to get out. It was a adventure that lisa and doon had to figure out the fate of their world. They were running out of food and needed to get out or they will become starved and die. That is why it was my favorite book because i love adventures and i bet some one like you would too.
